This recipe rocks my world.

I have literally made this quinoa salad five times a week for linner ( linner= lunch + dinner combined ) for the past month.

Back story: one random Monday I had no greens in the fridge…but was desperately craving a salad.

I decided to make my usual daily snack: I threw avocado into a bowl & added Himalayan pink crystal salt + Meyer lemon juice.

Suddenly I had the bright idea to add vegan quinoa, some leftover pomegranate seeds, & a spoonful of hummus.

All was amaze…but it needed spice.

Cue the chili flakes.

It was so yummmm, guys. Like, so, so party-in-my-mouth-yum. I’ve been OMG-ing ever since the first bite.

And honestly, this salad is super F-ing ugly to look at, but I don’t care- it’s addictive.

Warning: once you try this, prepare to fall in love…it’s that good.

xx.Lauryn

How cute is Kat?

Right?!

Her fashion blog has become one of my favorites- it’s fresh, avant-garde, & oh-so-pretty! Not to mention she has the.best.taste.in.home.decor.

Like, it’s honestly to die for.

Since my big move I’ve been scoping the interior design section of her blog on the reg. So much inspo!

Anyway meet the stunning Kat behind the blog, With Love From Kat:

Kat Tanita: With Love From Kat is a personal style blog where I talk about fashion, food, decor and travel. I started WLFK right after graduating college. A few months after graduating I moved to NYC and my blog really took off. I’ve been blogging full time for the past 7 months now and couldn’t imagine doing anything else!

+ What inspired you to start blogging?

KT: After graduating with a degree in Design, I started to miss the creative outlets that my assignments and internships provided. I literally googled “how to start a blog”, got With Love From Kat set up and the rest is history!

+ Advice for new bloggers?

KT: Be genuine and original. I cannot stress that enough. Originality will set you a part & get you noticed!

+ Tell us about your love for home decor? Your house looks amaze. Any tips?

KT: Thank you! I love to decorate and entertain. It was fun mixing high and low pieces from places like Ikea, Shabby Chic, Bungalow 5, & CB2. When it comes to decorating, I recommend doing your research – measure your space and compare different pieces online. Check out your local vintage and consignment stores for unique items that can easily be refinished or reupholstered. Don’t be afraid to mix old + new.

KT: If I’m trying to tone up fast, I do multiple spin classes/week, drink tons of green tea, & stay away from processed foods.

+ Weekly workout schedule?

KT: I recently joined Equinox, so I’ve been doing spin two mornings/week, yoga two nights/week & then weights/abs two days/week. Eventually I’d like to be doing more of each, but I’m easing into a routine right now ; ).

KT: I love avocado! An arugula, parmesan, & avocado salad with lemon vinaigrette is delicious for lunch.

+ Cocktail of choice?

KT: French 75 ( champagne, gin, lemon juice, & sugar )

+ Motivation to stay in shape?

KT: I’m always on the go so being in shape is a must. Working out makes me look and feel good on the inside and outside.

KT: Bobbi Brown ‘Bali’ Bronzer for a sun kissed glow.

+ Natural beauty remedy?

KT: I always let my hair air dry. I shower at night and then go to bed with slightly damp hair which makes my hair look shiny and healthy in the morning.

+ Quick, easy healthy recipe?

KT: I make a simple green smoothie a few times a week. It just has ice, almond milk, banana, strawberries, mango, and spinach in it. If I have kale or blueberries lying around I’ll toss them in too!

Model Ashley Osborne…Skinnista of the Month!

Lauryn Evarts talks with model Ashley Osborne about diet tricks, model tips, and exercise secrets.

I met Ashley while she was running on the beach. The second I saw her I knew I HAD to interview her.

She was running the stairs, wearing some super hot, sporty workout attire & looked totally approachable.

We started talking & she’s honestly the sweetest, cutest girl ever. Like, ever, ever. When you’re THAT beautiful, and you’re nice & funny, it’s a real, serious plus. No one likes some stuck-up bia-tch that thinks she’s the shit.

Yaaaaa. We all know kind.

This babe is the total opposite; she’s just lovely. Can’t wait to grab some champs with her next time she’s in the US ( she’s based out of Australia ).

Soooo get excited to meet the gorg, Ashley Osborne:

+ Introduce yourself.

I’m a twenty three year old Australian gal! I’m a full time model, whether I am in sunny Australia, or in the bustling city of NYC. None the less that doesn’t shape my personality, I was brought up in a small beach town called Newcastle, & enjoy the simpler things in life. I love staying active whether its running the beach, doing a gym class, or taking a board out with my boy; as long as its fun I’ll have a go!

+ Tell us all about your cute ( & famous, Julian Wilson ) surfer boyfriend!

Julian is pretty much my best friend. I could talk to him every day, all day & not get bored. We do long distance which can be hard, so the time we have together is really cherished. He’s extremely focused & hard working, which I find to be a really attractive quality. It’s not just shown in his surfing but in our relationship & the relationship with his family & other people who are important to him. What I love is the fun we have together, whether its playing backyard ball, or if he’s patiently teaching me to surf; we’re always up to something active.

+ Quick skinny trick?

I personally don’t go too crazy with diets. I’ve tried them before & I was miserable!! But when I do get serious I try stick to a healthy plan of less carb/more protein. This means lean meat & lots of fruits/veg. If I have bread I chose multi-grain. Next step is to cut out the sugar & the alcohol, not only will you feel better, you won’t be dealing with those embarrassing Facebook pics of your wild night the next day!

+ If you had to do a bikini shoot in a week, how would you prepare?

I won’t stress about it; that’s the worst thing I could do. Because I try keep my workout consistent I shouldn’t have to alter my routine too much in that area. As a lot has to do with your diet though, I can be known to have a bit of a sweet tooth. So cutting out desert and that cheeky wine time makes the world of a difference!

+ Tell, tell. Weekly workout schedule?

Depends where I am! If I’m in Australia I’ll be running its beautiful beaches daily & attending yoga classes. If I’m in New York I become a bit of a gym junkie mixing it up between spin classes, Pilates, & barre burn ( my most favorite workout!! ). Having the variety keeps things interesting. You don’t want to be counting down from the moment you start your work out to the moment you finish- that’s just torture!

+ Healthy food go-to?

I’m a little obsessed with acai bowls. If I’m not making them myself I’ll be becoming a regular at a place where does make them. They’re a nice & light breakfast option & I find them the best to work out on! Plus they are packed with antioxidants, so give me natural energy hit any day!

+ Motivation to stay in shape?

My motivation is getting into a bikini & feeling like I’m at my best in front of the camera. I also love staying in shape as I feel more energetic & confident to do anything. I think it’s really empowering as a woman to exercise, it makes me feel strong & independent. Plus having a work out goal or finishing a hard class feels like such a great achievement. We should all give ourselves a pat on the back more often.

+ Beauty product you die over?

A product I like is this cheek & lip stain by Stila cosmetics. It’s nice to apply for a bit of natural colour for a flushed & lively look. I personally like the passionfruit crush color!

+ Natural beauty remedy?

I haven’t always had the greatest skin growing up ( after all I am human ). I finally cured my teen zits but still had to deal with the nasty scarring. Due to this I have always applied this rosehip oil. It diminishes scars and makes the rest of your skin glow without blocking pores. Best news ever, ladies: it’s dirt cheap!

+ Secret model tip for diet and health?

Don’t take it too seriously, working out is supposed to be enjoyable! Eat healthy & exercise happy! Your smile will do the rest of the work for you!

+ Quick, easy recipe:

This is not my recipe, but it’s something that I love to make as a healthier alternative to chocolate! If you haven’t already you should try it out! A little dessert:

A handful of raw almonds

A scoop of vanilla powder

16 fresh dates, pitted

2 tablespoons cocoa powder

1 tablespoon natural vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Coconut flakes, goji berry, cacao, nuts, for rolling

+ Directions: throw almonds into the food processor with cinnamon, protein powder & cocoa then process until the mix looks crumbly. Add dates & vanilla extract; then process again until the mix starts to come together. Add a splash of water if you need to so that mixture is soft and forms a soft ball. Form into fourteen decent sized balls. Roll in coconut or any other of my suggested coatings and store in the fridge until you feel like a snack or quick meal on the run. Store in the fridge for up to four weeks.
