Core40 Pilates has changed my life! Not only do I take the workout, but I’ve taught it too. The genius creator, Sebastian Lagree, has the sweetest, most gorgeous wife, Carrie. So, today Carrie [ who also happens to be a model ] is spilling all her tips & tricks when it comes to staying fit. Her bod is rockin’…which is exactly why I LOVE this exercise— it lengths & leans, rather than adding bulk. Just look at her!!

Quick, lil side note: Core40 has offered to give all TSC readers two classes for free at the Solana Beach, California studio. Simply create a profile at one of the studios, go to online store, & click “2 Classes for $30 ( SD locals ), & add the item + the promo code [ SKINNYFREE ].

Ok, ok, here’s the deets on the lovely Carrie:

+ Introduce yourself:

Carrie Lagree: My name is Carrie Lagree. I’m a model/housewife living in Sherman Oaks, California. I live with my husband, Sebastien Lagree, who is the creator of Lagree Fitness ( aka the exercise Core40 provides ), & our four dogs- B.B., Belle, Benji & Brutus. I’m originally from Texas, but I moved to California in 2003.

+ Tell us alllll about your weekly workout sch.

CL: My weekly workout schedule is always different depending on how busy I am. I try to do my husband’s workout twice a week & I also do yoga one to two times a week. The rest of the exercise I get is from walking my dogs and chasing after them! LOL! I also love to go swimming, rollerskating, & hiking. I love working out with friends.

+ Let’s talk BodyRoK; I’m obsessed- I love teaching it AND taking it. What’s your opinion?

CL: Lagree Fitness/BodyRoK is an amazing workout!! You do all kinds of crazy intense exercises on the machine while working parts of your body you would never be able to get to at the gym. I always feel so much better about myself after I do it…and I’m always sore the next day [ the good kind of sore : ) ].

+ Favie BodyRoK move?

CL: My favorite move is called ‘the bungee kick’; I’m all about working the butt!

+ Natural beauty product you swear by?

CL: I love using organic coconut oil- it’s great to condition your hair & skin!! Every once in a while when I am laying out in the sun I will put it on.

+ Quick skinny tip?

CL: I am not a diet person; diets have never worked for me. I try to walk to do most of my errands- I walk to the grocery store, to the dry cleaners, to Starbucks, etc…If you have dog, take your dog for a long walk, they’ll love it and you’ll feel skinnier after!

I don’t deprive myself from any food- if I’m out to dinner and after my meal I want dessert, but I know I have a shoot the next morning, I’ll order dessert & just let myself have a taste of it so I am satisfied. I can bring the rest home or my husband will usually eat it :-). This seems to works best, because if I deprive myself from something I really want, I’ll just end up going back later & eating twice as much as I would have in the first place.

I also think it’s better to eat five to six small meals instead of three big meals a day. I try to keep almonds or protein bars in my car if I know I am going to be gone/driving around all day.

+ Healthy snack choice?

CL: My favorite healthy snack is fruit, but my new thing is kale chips. My girlfriend came over one day & put a bunch of kale on a cookie sheet, then she topped it off with a little olive oil & seasoning salt and put it in the oven for about ten minutes. When she took them out, they were amazing!! Tasted so good & kale is really good for you. I’ve been making them ever since.

+ Fav cocktail?

CL: Champagne! But I love wine, cocktails, & sometimes- shots! You only live once ;).

+ One word to describe Core40 Pilates:

CL: AMAZING!!!

Starbucks iced passion fruit tea + green tea = my latest obsession. A few weeks ago I passed my Proformer Pilates certification test [ pretty excited...I'll be teaching at BodyROK {!!!} ], instead of celebrating with typical bubbly, we clinked glasses with this flavorful, pink lemonade. There’s practically no cals, no sugar, & no carbs: I bought two ‘trenta-sized’ Starbucks iced teas [ they both contained half passion fruit tea/half green tea/with no sweetener & light water ]. Then poured both cups to an ice-filled pitcher + strawberries & sliced lemons [ feel free to add a bit of Stevia too ; ) ].

Tada. Concentrated lemonade, sugary cranberry crap, & fake orange juice can F off!! Lol.

This ruby red dime may or may not taste amazing with vodka/tequila/gin…just saying.

Love.L

Can I say that I die over this workout? Die= I love.love.love. & also meaning it’s incredibly hard…in all the right ways. For the past couple of months, at least four times a week, I’ve been attending classes at Core40. I’m addicted {!!!}.

Why? It’s high intensity, high energy Proformer Pilates with uplifting music [ they also offer an insane spin class too ]. After forty minutes, I leave the studio feeling strong, motivated, & dripping in sweat. The workout is all about creating that long & lean muscle. I’m also teaching it now- so come see me? Ok, ok, here’s all the deets:

+ Describe the new & improved BodyROK.

Core40: We’re so excited about our new brand- Core40 Studios! When we first opened in Solana Beach as Sculpt over three years ago, we offered only the incredible sculpting benefits of SPX Pilates [ aka Lagree Fitness]. With the addition of our indoor cycle program about a year ago, the studios have evolved into such a unique concept with the sculpt, the cycle, & the motivating vibe, that it was time to bring it all under this exciting new brand. Another new development is our partnership with the amazing surf photographer, Aaron Chang, whose photographs are now gracing our walls. Who doesn’t want to gaze into beautiful ocean art while getting an amazing workout?! We are the same studio, same body sculpting workouts, same incredible community– just a new name and a sleeker look! :)

+ How many classes per week does it take to see results?

C40: Three to four times a week is the best bet. Since it’s a form of strength training we recommend taking every other day to give the muscles a chance to recover, but you can always take a cycle/spin class in between to mix it up!

+ Which parts of the body transform the quickest?

C40: Abs & buns! The machine allows you to do exercises focused on the abs & obliques that really sculpt them- fast! And we have so many awesome moves for lifting and toning the buns: even lunges done on the Proformer do the trick for the backside more so than with any other method.

Lauryn Evarts, Pilates instructor, fitness blogger, health blogger, and fashion blogger talks skinny tips and tricks.

+ Best part of teaching at Core40?

C40: Watching people transform is definitely one of the best parts of the job. We see people of all ages [ 20's to late 60's ] slim down, tone up, & become stronger- it’s incredible. All of the sudden we notice their arms looking more defined, waists whittling, & buns lifting- everything that we work out for!

Another plus: time efficiency. You work out for forty to fifty minutes a day & see results in about three to four WEEKS. Can’t beat that!

+ What makes this workout stand out?

C40: Our method is based on slow movements & isometric holds while keeping the heart rate up throughout the whole class. If you do things at a slower pace, it digs in to the slow twitch fibers that build the long lean muscle that we all dream about. And the isometric holds send the muscles in to that exhaustion state- all you can take is forty minutes of this class. And…it’s so fun!

+ Describe Core40 in one sentence.

C40: #bestworkoutever.
