If the Victoria’s Secrets Fashion Show didn’t motivate you to move your ass, then I don’t know what will.

I mean, honestly. Did you see those sex kittens? Hellllloo fitspiration.

After researching the pre-show prep, I’ve found that all of the VS model’s work their asses off before the show…For instance: they spend a lot of time on core work [ this strengthens their posture too ], many of the models follow the blood type diet, & they also incorporate boxing/light weight lifting/jump roping into their fitness sch. Adriana Lima describes the fashion show prep as “really, really intense.”

Annnnnd a month before the show they drink at least a gallon of water a day; a few days before production they go lighter on the water to tighten every thing up. DEDICATION, much?!

Cardio is a huge part of the Victoria’s Secrets model process too.

So on that note, let’s talk about the Elliptical. I am not a runner. Personally, running makes me way too hungry. To each its own though. If running floats your boat, then run your little your heart out. Do what works well for you.

When I’m in a rush & want to sweat, I turn to the Elliptical.

+ Elliptical Tips:

+ Pay attention to your feet. If you use your heels, it will work your hamstrings & booty more. If you’re on your toes it will tone the front of your thighs. Pick your poison.

+ Use your arms & legs equally to increase your heart rate. This works a muscle you don’t see: the heart!

+ Core tips. If you’re interested in toning up your core, go hands free. This tests your balance & works the core. Imagine someone is going to punch you in the stomach; keep your abs tight the whole workout.

+ Mix it up. Start hard [ think 13 or 14 resistance ] & go down from there.

+ Shoot for an hour. If you can’t squeeze that in, try for at least thirty minutes.

+ Posture. Keep your head in line with your spine.

+ Cool down. Try to incorporate a five minute cool down at the end of each Elliptical session.

For anybody who is interested… This video shows the models talk about their work-out routines and it is SO motivating because you realize that they are completely normal people who make big sacrifices to achieve the body they want!

  4. Great tips – I tend to neglect the elliptical but its always a nice change. So many ways to switch it up!

  5. Love it! I typically don’t like the elliptical, I get bored for some reason. But this has motivated me to try it again! Running totally makes me hungry too, you’re so right! But I enjoy doing walk/running intervals to good music…the time flys by for me on the treadmill!

Hey Lauren I love your blog! Your tips are so amazing! You talked about a resistance at 13/14. What about the incline, what would you suggest?

    • laurynevarts

Thanks Sarah; so happy you like it! I like incline super, super high (the whole time). : )))

Hi lauryn, would you recommend the elliptical over a treadmill? And why?

    X

    • laurynevarts

I just prefer the Elliptical over the Treadmill. The Treadmill makes me famished with hunger. The Elliptical is easier on my knees too ; ). XO.

Thank you for the motivation today! I have been sick and was trying to decide if I should work out today. Well the answer is YES! Even if it is not as hard core as I would it to be, doing something is better than nothing!
